What is the difference between AKKOtune compact and modular?

AKKOtune compact combines all functions in one device: worktop with exchangeable blow hole inserts and adjustable air flow generator.
If necessary, the device can be placed on the workbench and then back on the shelf.

AKKOtune modular is a system for upgrading existing tuning workstations.
The system can be set up flexibly thanks to separate units for air flow generation and control. The work table / bellows is connected to the BlowBox via a flange and an air hose.

What is the difference between AKKOtune modular and modular_LE?

The modular system works with the measured pressure as a manipulated variable for the speed of the blower. This is done microprocessor-controlled via a PID control, except in the operating mode without PID, which is used to slowly increase the speed and to measure and display the pressure, while with PID control the pressure is preselected using the display and then approached by the blower.

With the LE version (LE = Lean Edition = simpler version = lower price), the speed of the blower is set using a rotary knob and PWM (pulse width modulation) and when a pressure measuring device is connected (control unit X12 or AKKOmbar X7), the pressure can be read on the display.

How is the test wind generated?

All systems work with an electronically controlled radial blower. The maximum achievable pressure or negative pressure is approx. 10 mbar / 1000 Pascal / 0.145 psi. This is roughly equivalent to the pressure needed for very loud playing. The maximum pressure may be electronically limited.

How does the wind direction change over?

All systems work with a fan that generates the wind in only one direction. A clever flap control inside the BlowBox sets the wind to either PUSH or PULL. The systems handle the stop instruction differently.

AKKOtune compact and modular LE: When the flaps are in the stop position, the air circulates inside the BlowBox without generating wind at the blow hole and the blower is switched off.

AKKOtune modular: close all flaps and the fan is switched off.

How to set the wind strength?

The blower used is electronically controlled via pulse width modulation. There is a certain minimum speed at approx. 10% pulse width and goes up to 100%. You will use around 20-40%.

AKKOtune modular: in the PID operating modes, the desired pressure is specified via the display and the controller, and after the start of PUSH or PULL the blower accelerates until this pressure is reached and maintains it.

AKKOtune compact and modular_LE:    the fan output is set using a potentiometer. The pressure is shown on the display for checking (optional with modular_LE).

How can I buy AKKOtune?

After contacting AKKOfixx, e.g. on the homepage in the menu under Contact, it will be clarified which system is the right one for the individual needs. When it is clear what is required, AKKOfixx will prepare an offer / invoice. After receipt of payment, you will receive an order confirmation stating the approximate delivery time.

What does the offered price include?

The prices in the price lists are net without VAT. Depending on the scope of the order, there is also a flat rate for packaging and shipping. For deliveries outside of Switzerland, the VAT of the respective country must be paid. Customs duties may be added under certain circumstances.

How long is the delivery time?

After the order has been placed, the production of the ordered system is scheduled. Depending on the order situation, production can begin very quickly, or orders that have been placed beforehand have to be processed first. The production of a system takes about 3-5 weeks. This includes procurement of material and work performance - each system is individually manufactured to order.

Which pressure can be generated with AKKOtune?

Radial blowers are used, which can generate a pressure that represents the maximum of the blowers available on the market for the size. The maximum achievable static pressure is approx. 14 mbar / 1400 Pascal / 0.2 psi. The pressure can be varied very well through the PWM control of the fan, almost to a standstill.

At what pressure do you tune?

This differs depending on the type of instrument and the type of reed plates. Usually a pressure between 1.5 and 3 mbar is chosen. It should be noted that the pressure is set approximately the same when tuning an instrument and a similar reed size. For example, if you increase the pressure on bass reeds, you can hear a frequency drop. On the other hand, with very small reeds, the reverse is possible that the tone rises when the pressure increases.

How is the tuning table system powered?

In order not to use dangerous voltages within the system, the system is supplied with 12V DC voltage. The power supply units used have a wide range input and are provided with a 2-pin Euro plug. The power cord can be exchanged. The power supply unit can be connected to input voltages of 110-240 V AC with 50-60 Hz and has an output of 60 or 72 watts, depending on the system it is used for. The power supply has a barrel connector with a 5.5mm diameter and 2.5mm hole. It is equipped with all protective devices.

Which electronics are used in the AKKOtune system?

All electronic components in an AKKOtune system are developed and manufactured by AKKOfixx itself. The electronic circuit boards are manufactured industrially and are equipped with commercially available components and partly with purchased modules. The software used is a special in-house development that has been extensively tested. Since each system is a one-off production, the hardware and software is checked individually and adjusted to the system.

Can the leather cover on the AKKOtune DESK worktop be replaced?

The leather used to cover the AKKOtune DESK worktop is very robust and sticks to the two top layers of gray polystyrene. Since the smooth side of the leather is at the bottom, it is possible to use a very thin double-sided tape. The leather can be peeled off and replaced with a new one.

How can you seal the contact surface of a "halved" instrument?

Some instruments have a bellows rim that is smooth and even all around. Other instruments have bumps or gaps in the bellows frame that allow air to escape or be drawn in. In order to seal the seat of a "halved" instrument so that the air does not escape or be drawn to the side, you have to use a soft mat that compensates for the unevenness. One mat is included. Gaps or coarser unevenness in the edge can be closed with an adhesive tape. The instrument half is then pressed onto the mat by the hold-down devices.

How do the foot switches work?

Each system has specially designed foot switches. There are switches with one pedal and others with two pedals and a foot switch.
AKKOtune compact:
1. A pedal to stop the air flow, when released the air flow starts again.
2. Two pedals for start PUSH or PULL and a stomp button for STOP.
AKKOtune modular:
1. One pedal to start the wind in the pre-selected direction.
2. Two pedals for start PUSH or PULL; when you let go the wind stops.
3. Two pedals for start PUSH or PULL and a stomp button for STOP.
AKKOtune modular LE:
1. One pedal to start the wind in the pre-selected direction.
3. Two pedals for start PUSH or PULL and a stomp button for STOP.
